The Ambassador of The Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia Visits Lyons!
Yesterday we were delighted to welcome Dr Rizal Sukma who is the UK Ambassador of The Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia along with his team.Â
The purpose of the visit was to develop increased trade relations between the UK and Indonesia, and in particular farm raised shrimp.
Indonesia farms nearly 400,000 metric tonnes of aquaculture shrimp on an annual basis, and with Lyons Seafoods and The Labeyrie Fine Foods Group being one of the largest shrimp buyers in Europe, they are a very important importer of seafood from this origin.
Tony Watkinson Director of Sourcing and Purchasing hosted the Ambassador for the day at the Lyons Seafoods head office in Warminster Wiltshire, where nearly 6000 Metric Tonnes of warm water prawns and 2500 Metric Tonnes of cold water shrimp are processed each year and distributed around the UK.
Estelle Brennan, Head of sustainability for LFF UK was also there to meet the Ambassador and his team said of the visit “At Lyons Seafoods we are committed to provide great products that are responsibly sourced. We take great care in selecting our suppliers, and constantly engage with our supply chains, civil societies & governments to drive improvements that minimise environmental impacts, and secure sustainable livelihoods. It was a great honour to have the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia visiting our siteâ€.
The Ambassador enjoyed a tour of the Lyons production facility, meeting many members of the Lyons team along the way. Afterwards he said “I would like to express our greatest gratitude and thanks for your kindness to accept us today. We would like this cooperation to continue and we will try to do our best to facilitate your trading with Indonesiaâ€.Featured News
