Lyons visit The Avenue School in Warminster to present a cheque
The Avenue School in Warminster were victims of a terrible arson attack earlier this year. Lyons, as well as many other local businesses, contacted the school as soon as they heard to ask how they could help. Â
The photos are from a visit to The Avenue School last week where Lyons presented them with a cheque for £91.77, and were able to see the fire damage first hand. We were also shown the new carpets that Lyons paid for installed in the library and training rooms to create new temporary classrooms.
In the photos you can see the terrible damage that the fire caused. You could still smell the smoke and underneath the debris see fragments of school work and remains of books etc. Audrey Burns and Kirstie Parker, who had the initial idea to support the school and arranged the ‘could you donate £1’ fundraiser, presented the cheque to the students and Headmaster, Stuart Porter.
They made us feel very welcome and the students in the classroom even gave Lyons a round of applause as a thank you!
