Product Development Technologist

A food related degree preferred but not essential. At least one year’s experience in the food industry – seafood experience an advantage.


  • Be comfortable working within a seafood environment – is a seafood eater.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, presentation skills and IT skills.
  • Proactive approach, good attention to detail and conscientious to ensure all tasks are completed.
  • Bright, able to think ‘outside the box’.
  • Enthusiastic, positive and eager to learn new skills.
  • Flexibility to meet business needs – including longer work hours and/or overnight trips as required.
  • Full driving licence.


  • Creative and a “foodie” with culinary skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Project Management and able to manage multiple projects at the same time (juggling several Critical Paths at once).
  • Some experience/exposure with retail customers - experience of Waitrose, JS and Co-op is an advantage.
  • Some awareness of relevant legislation criteria and industry standards for food production.

A vacancy has arisen in our Product Development team for a Product Development Technologist. This role will require flexibility in approach, from developing new concepts in the kitchen to launching the finished product in the factory for all customers (retailers, foodservice and manufacturing). It will also involve some off-site visits to our key customers.

You will be working closely with various departments within the business including commercial, sourcing/purchasing, technical, planning, engineers, and operations/production, ensuring that they are fully engaged and committed to critical path delivery.

The role has three main focuses:

1.  Product Concept Development

2.  Process Development

3.  Customer Relationship Management
